“We are Pulled by Waves”
2020. Watercolor, color pencil, graphite.
Created for a client for the Linden Flats,
a residential building in South Minneapolis, MN. The client liked a sketch series I had done of various movements + dance. They had also felt very strongly about my use of woment in my work. I had recently embarked on a new path with my work and found this commission a perfect opportunity to develop it further. The only real request was to include lakes and birds, and so I did, in my own specific fashion.

“The Girl in the Hill of the Great Northern Sky”
2019. Watercolor, graphite, white ink.
This piece was created for a client as a gift for their young daughter. There are lots of personal little details included; a nod to to both their Pakistani and Scandinavian heritage, a treasured doll, cat’s cradle, redheads, a brass gazelle, a beloved pet. Scarabs, tulips, butterflies, and the smallest deer in existence, all added to enliven the painting and an opportunity to paint new things.
